Samsul Arifin

The collective memories of education are images of chairs, pencils and erasers, pens and papers that must be written. To Samsul these depicted objects, the Staedtler blue pencils type 2B and Boxy erasers are familiar visual icons to the generations who schooled in the 1980 and 1990s, and possibly up until today.  These objects are icons for young people who haven’t been colonised by the digital technologies that are starting to dominate the life development of children from the urban upper classes.
